TON Blockchain Resurfaces Stronger After Second Crash

The recent resumption of operations on the ton blockchain network comes after experiencing two outages in two days. The ton Community made the announcement on its telegram channel, informing users that ton-based asset withdrawals and deposits via Wallet would soon be back on track. The most recent outage, lasting over four hours, was attributed to a heavy load caused by DOGS token minting.

The ton network faced a similar disruption earlier this week, which was promptly resolved after affecting services for a brief period. Both outages were directly linked to the minting of the DOGS token, initially noticed by observers and later confirmed by the ton network.

Despite facing these setbacks, the native token of the ton protocol, Toncoin, saw an 8% increase in value following the news of the network's recovery. However, the token's value remains below its previous levels before the arrest of telegram CEO Pavel Durov.

DOGS token Impact on ton Network

The DOGS token launch led to significant congestion on the ton blockchain, ultimately causing an unexpected network outage. The overwhelming demand for the airdropped DOGS tokens resulted in a surge of on-chain activity, overwhelming the network's capacity.

The official ton blockchain account reported an abnormal load disrupting block production due to the massive number of transactions processed in the preceding 48 hours. DOGS, introduced in July 2024, is known as the most telegram-native memecoin, inspired by telegram CEO Pavel Durov's mascot, Spotty.

With the official DOGS Community channel boasting nearly 17 million subscribers and 3.9 million followers on X since its inception, the token has quickly gained a substantial following, positioning itself among prominent players in terms of social media influence.

Durov's Legal Situation

Following Durov's arrest in France, he has been released on a $5.56 million bail under strict conditions. These conditions include paying 5 million euros, reporting to the police twice a week, and remaining within French borders.

The Paris prosecutor confirmed that the judge found sufficient grounds to investigate Durov formally on all charges, including complicity in illicit transactions, distributing child sexual abuse material, drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, and providing cryptographic services to criminals.

A video circulating on social media shows Durov leaving the prosecutor's office in France after his release on bail. The legal proceedings surrounding Durov's case continue to unfold as he navigates the charges brought against him.
